BlankGreetings -

The Oregon IEEE Consultants' Network (ORCNET) meets regularly on the fourth Thursday of each month.

Details of our next meeting (Thursday night!) are below.

MAY ORCNET MEETING

WHAT - A PRESENTATION

Selling to the Federal Government

By Mr. Terry Lang, President, Alzatex, Inc.

Terry's company, Alzatex, manufactures specialized Timers of his own design. Alzatex has recently been awarded two U.S. government contracts, and is in the process of obtaining a three-year contract to supply products to the federal government. Alzatex is seeking a contract to supply Timers for PT (Physical Training), Timers for public meetings, and other related products to the government.

The General Services Administration (GSA) is a United States federal agency that provides office space, goods, and services to other federal agencies. Alzatex is now a pre-approved vendor, with a GSA contract. That status will attract and enable other federal projects. The government will find it much easier to hire Alzatex to develop products.

The secret is to follow the money.

The federal government is spending lots of money and this is a good way to get your share of its business. The government has mandated that at least 25 percent of all GSA purchases must be from small business. In addition, all large business that do business with the federal government MUST subcontract at least 25 percent of their federal contracts to qualified small business.

Come to this ORCNET meeting to learn how to participate!

WHO - OUR PRESENTER
Terry Lang graduated from OIT (Oregon Institute of Technology) in 1973 and then held a position with Tektronix for nearly seventeen years. Today Terry is the owner and president of Alzatex, Inc., an Oregon corporation. He started the company in 1993 when he developed a product for timing of public speakers and also a Request to Speak system. Both systems were originally designed for the City of West Lynn, OR, to solve the problem of managing public meetings, and have become quite popular in the U.S.

Alzatex is most recently noted for providing the timing system used during the presidential debates in the past three election cycles.

In addition to Timing Systems, Alzatex has developed a custom timing system for a captive air lock, to keep contamination from entering tents in the field.
