Administrivia: HTML formatted email

The list works a lot better if all emails are ASCII (text) only, no
HTML. Please use ASCII, with PDF attachments for anything formatted.

In general, it is better to send and receive ASCII email, anyway. HTML
is a common path for transmitting computer viruses, and given that
about 10% of Windows machines are infected, you can assume that a
large percentage of the HTML email you receive contains some kind
of malware. At the very least, opening a single HTML-formatted spam
sends information back to the originator, and validates your email
address to the network of spammers out there. HTML also tends to
confuse spam filters.

If you feel strongly about including HTML and formatting, send it both
ways - your mailer permits that. This way, both your fastidious and
your easy-going readers will have an easier time reading your mail.

Thanks!
Yr Hmbl Weblackey, Keith
