WHAT - A Presentation

"PID Without a PhD", by Mr. Tim Wescott, MSEE
The ubiquitous PID loop is the first tool that most control systems engineers reach for when they need to implement a controller, and it is often the only tool required. Although control theory has unending breadth and depth, many control problems can be solved by implementing a simple "cookbook" PID loop, without venturing into the thickets of this mathematical wonderland.

This presentation will show you how to implement a variety of PID loops in embedded software, how to tune these loops, and how to know if you've gotten in over your head and need to bring in an expert to help you with your system.

WHO - Our Presenter
Tim Wescott , MSEE (Worcester Polytechnic Institute, MA), has more than twenty years of engineering experience in circuit design, embedded software design, and closing control loops in software. Tim owns and operates Wescott Design Services, www.wescottdesign.com, where he consults on control systems and algorithms, communications system algorithms, circuit design, and software design.

The ORCNET meets at the Beaverton International House of Pancakes (IHOP), located at the intersection of SW 158th & Walker Rd, across Walker Rd. from Fred Meyers.

The IHOP's seating capacity is approximately 35 folks, so come early! Just ask for the Oregon IEEE Consultants' Network meeting, or the ORCNET meeting. We will be in the glassed-in room to your right as you enter.

REMINDERS!
Although our meetings are free and open to the public, ORCNET membership has its advantages. To join, just bring a check for $50 for annual dues to this meeting.

Membership dues for 2010 ($50) are due and payable now. Bring your check payable to the ORCNET, for our Treasurer, Brian Conley.
